Memory Care: Learn A New Word A Week

Welcome back, and Happy Memorial Day to all who serve this great country.  This week our word to memorize is deciduous.  Now maybe you have heard of deciduous trees.  That will give  you a clue if you don’t know what this word means.  Follow the steps below, and be sure to catch up with all of the other words in the series, by checking the archives.  These words will actually double as a homeschool lesson for my 10th grader next year.  She will be required to do all of the steps that I ask of you.

Get out your journal, or locate it on your electronic device.  Look up the definition of the word, deciduous.  Write the word and the definition 10 times each.  The go back and say the word, and definition out loud 10 times.  Use the word, deciduous in a sentence, and try to find a synonym for it.  You can draw a picture that describes the word, or write a paragraph using the word as many times as you can.  Then, go back over all the previous words.  See how many you already remember.  Write them out again, if you need to, to help improve remembering them.
